In the spirit of festivities, Rt. Hon. (Sen.) Nkem Silas (OOL, COL), the UofA SUG Speaker elect and the erstwhile UofA SUG Secretary General, sends his greetings and best wishes to all Muslims who observed Ramadan in the UofA Students community.

Ramadan being a time of self-reflection intended to deepen one’s spiritual growth and renew a sense of appreciation for the many blessings that God provides" he said.

In this spirit of thanksgiving and reflection, those who observed Ramadan can strengthen our communities, help those in need, and serve as good examples for how to live a holy life."

He also urged the Muslim faithfuls, to use this period to pray for our Union, "As we engage in supplications to Allah, let us also remember our Student Union Government and leaders in our prayers. Let us remember our diversity is for a purpose and pray that we all work to strengthen it. We must join hands to bring peace and progress in UofA, by praying for unity and progress in our diversity.


Finally he urged all students to strive to emulate Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) example of humility, forgiveness, and service to others.
