It begins with me;the change mantra of our new government.

Walking up to that hall of fame where our students leaders were inaugurated was truly a nail-biter. I resorted in me that I'll make sure I tell the 93.3% students voice which I duly represent the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

As I stood before this noble assemblage, amidst a sea of eager faces, I couldn't help but feel a surge of emotions - excitement, nervousness, and above all, gratitude to God and traditional owners of the house. My journey to this moment had been filled with challenges, triumphs, and invaluable lessons that shaped me into the leader I am today.

First, we affirmed our unwavering commitment to the principles that unite us:the national anthem. The patriotic ritual to our nation was immediately offered, as all men echoed their commitment towards the good of our country,Nigeria. I immediately learnt from one traditional owner of the house—as a leader, never move around during the National anthem rather stand at attention.

Will anything good come out of Nazareth(education)??

Come and see,was always my finest answer.

This was the question that followed the preying eyes that trailed my brown line-yard hung on my neck with dignity, and trust me,I was always ready to make my mother faculty family proud, for my young brain would always tell me this— The course you studied doesn't matter, rather the personality that studied the course matters, nevertheless,I sat with all dignity that all faculties were made equal.

The first words of the Electoral committee P.R.O,  Comr. Whitelion kept on hitting, so I felt never to let the opportunity pass"Look in for an opportunity to stand with the mighty",. Truly, the event was graced by the mighty, from the management, to the traditional owners of the house which we meet,it was a place to be.

I know it may be inexpedient to bore you with details of the dignitaries of the event as most of you have been present in the event but there is an Igbo proverb that says: “He who does not know where rain started beating him, may not know where it stopped”. So, I crave your indulgence for a synoptic presentation of the house as it will guide our policy trusts.

I doff my cap to the digital Vice Chancellor of the UofA of Nigeria, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah, whose favourable policies have kept our prestigious University on the map, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Umar  Kari, Prof. Muhammad, The Head of the faculty of Agricultural engineering and former ambassador of Nigeria, Prof. Bassey and Dr. Sunday Matthew Dada, the Dean, faculty of education and the traditional owners of the house which I come to meet.

It is also my pleasure to panegyrize our father, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Umar Kari, for his confirmation and consent to the impeccable judgment of the members of electoral committee in the election process,as he vividly gave a breakdown of the process that ran in accordance with the school calendar.

"Seamless was the process",the Dean said,

With a total number of 13962 voters, the UofA of Nigeria conducted her electronic voting election pattern for the fourth time in a role, adding that the results were also projected live.

The Dean confirmed that our win are not just a retort but a reclamation of our right to speak, and to be heard. While urging all the elected SUG/SRA  to do everything germane in the promotion of the change mantra of the digital university management.

Speaking at the ceremony, the digital Vice-Chancellor commended the Electoral Committee for the successful utilization of the Electronic Voting System in the election of the students’ leadership.

He also commended the students for actively participating in the students union government election process, stressing that this would make them hold their elected leaders accountable.

"The UofA Nigeria is at the seat of the President and the number one citizen of Nigeria, so automatically, we remain thr number one university in Nigeria," he said.

We have a great destiny",he said and therefore the students welfare must be protected at all cost especially sexual harassment and all students should learn to use the school career and counselling unit in case,if the need arise.

The Vice-Chancellor reminded the new SUG that the UofA Nigeria a world class university and SUG must strive to do something to put the her on the map.

There is a leadership philosophy which opines that people tend to follow a leader through whom they perceive their own personal aspirations shall be met.

This was why the jubilation never Seized after the inaugural speech of our Union executive president, Hon. Bashir Abdullahi Muhammad.
Together we shall forge a future where greatness thrives, where every dream is within reach.

Those were the last words of the UofA SUG speaker, RT. Hon (Sen.) Nkem Silas (OOL COL),that caused the brought hope to the students again.

Indeed, the UofA SUG government is in the right hands.

Let me vehemently aver before you all that students welfare issues would remain fundamental in our symbiotic efforts of our Union building and pursuit of attainment of the University goals.

Any amongst you my 93.3% students cognizant of our antecedents would attest that all the elected members are not  novice in the art of making people happy and comfortable. By experience, we know that comfort provokes a man to give off his best and be more productive in his service delivery. Hence, efforts within the purview of our union financial capability would be geared towards ensuring a conducive schooling atmosphere for the students to enable each to contribute positively towards our efforts to make the University a world-class Institution. Part of the ideals of the change mantra of our new government.

So the my fellow elected members, leadership is not without its challenges. There will be obstacles to overcome, disagreements to navigate, and moments of doubt to confront. Yet, it is during these times of adversity that true leadership shines brightest. It is about staying true to one's principles, remaining steadfast in the face of adversity, and rallying others to persevere alongside you.

As we embark on this journey of leadership, let's do so with an open heart, a clear vision, and an unwavering commitment to serve with integrity, compassion, and dedication. Together, let us write the next chapter of our shared story, guided by the principles of unity, empathy, and progress.

To my 93.3% students voice, let's support our government and protect her democracy at all cost and have it in mind that Rome was never built in a day,but slow and steady, wins the race.

God bless the UofA of Nigeria
