Get ready to resume lectures for the eleventh hour of intervention is now

A few hours ago on my status, I wrote about the stammerer’s tale. I wrote about him that though he may take time, but his eventuality at pronouncing his “fa-fa-the-ther’s na-na-nam-name” is something that will not die behind the façade of that time. The University of Abuja Students’ Representative Assembly elections and inaugurations, just like the stammerer’s tale, has finally come and gone. Some students believe that the struggle that has cost us this far is nothing but an exercise in futility, stressing that UofA doesn't have a strong SUG/SRA, while others believe that no matter how few the steps may be, this struggle has no doubt, moved us upwardly in the seamless ladder of Aluta.

However, whether these views are right or wrong is an argument we will be deferring to another day.

Right now, there’s an urgent task we must perform, the task of reporting to the 93.3% of the Students voice which we represent on the today's history that was made by the UofA 9th Assembly and also giving the oppressive structures the undiluted One Kobo, after all, we’ve got neither gold nor silver. I know you must be wondering, “One Kobo in all of these?,after the votes and the promises” Well, if you are a true Nigerian to the marrow, you should have known that this One Kobo we are giving to the oppressors is not a literal Kobo but a figurative one usually used in the Nigerian lexicon as a synonym for some advice and resolves. When your friend sits you down to give you a three-hour lecture on what you should or should not do and goes ahead to end the long discussion with “…anyways, that’s my one kobo for you“. You should know, your friend is indirectly telling you that you following or not following the resolution is at your own discretion but of course, he/she has fulfilled the friendship obligation of blowing the whistle to your straying dog. So,to those that have oppressed our students for long, this is our one kobo for you all.

One of the lessons, we might have been blinded to is the insight by Nigerian rapper, Afeez Olusola, popularly known as Naira Marley—ole ni everybody, eni ile mo ba sa ni barawo’ which is roughly translated as: we are all thieves, it is he who is caught that is the criminal,So, to whom it may concern, all dogs eat faeces, but the only one that is seen with faeces in the mouth is known for eating faeces, have it in mind that the eleventh hour is now.

Quite a couple of times, we engage and strive hard in one activity or the other so as to arrive at a positive end. We might have set for ourselves some attainable goals of graduating in the next 3months with lay down principles, and strategies that will guide us in the path that leads to our golden destination, but yet ASUU, striked. Even when we engage in prayers wanting intervention from the SUG, we perform it with a focused heart and pray fervently to God to grant us our heart desires and make ASUU call-off the strike.
There are times when we have struggled to reach Adelabu and charge our phones because of the unsteady light, getting to Adelabu, you hear that the charge is now #700 and it comes to a point whereby we are tired of trying and keeping up the UofA pace and hikes in price, that we ask where is our SUG?. It seem as if your hopes are all sinking, when the Policemen under the school gate pedestrian bridge harrases you, and you think thereafter that nothing good will come to pass from the current Student Union Government administration.

As at this moment, when this authorities has played down on the students welfare and voices, the UofA 9th Assembly Parliament has chosen to intervene, calling it the eleventh hour. The eleventh hour is the time God operates most. Now that you think there is no way out, now that you view it all as if your world is crumbling because of the strike and your world is about come to an end as you're not having enough money to sponsor the hiked prices around campus, now that you think no one is going to save you out of this mess of Police daily extortion at the school gate. Now that you're almost giving it all up despite all your hopes that you'll be done with your project by now only for ASUU to strike, now your faith is completely running out. Now that you think the Giri New site is no longer a safe place or a location for you to dwell in, now that you feel your secrets are wide open to the whole world, it is now that the eleventh  hour of intervention from the UofA 9th Assembly comes in.

So,be ready to resume lectures for the eleventh hour of intervention is now,the hikes and the extortion periods are over.

Support your SRA'S today in your prayers as we embark on this eleventh hour intervention.
