Biden Calls Tinubu to Discuss Binance Executive's Release and Other Bilateral Matters
President Bola Tinubu GCFR @NGRPresident @officialABAT received a call from U.S. President Joe Biden @POTUS around 4 p.m. Nigerian time today. The call, lasting approximately 30 minutes, was confirmed by Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar @YusufTuggar, during a briefing to State House Correspondents.

Ambassador Tuggar disclosed that the conversation touched on multiple key areas of bilateral interest, including recent developments surrounding the release of Binance's Head of Financial Crime Compliance, Tigran Gambaryan. "The discussion emphasised cooperation between the two nations on law enforcement, especially concerning cryptocurrency compliance and other security measures," Tuggar noted.

During the call, President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to President Biden for the ongoing partnership between Nigeria and the U.S. in various fields, particularly in security within Africa and the West African region. President Biden affirmed the importance of a robust partnership, citing Africa's growing role in global development.

The leaders also addressed Nigeria's aspirations for a permanent United Nations Security Council seat. President Biden reiterated the U.S. commitment to supporting Africa's representation on the Council, emphasising that he sees no reason why Nigeria should not occupy one of those seats.
