BRICS SUMMIT

The BRICS Summit in Russia just finished, these are the keynote happenings in the summit:

●The Indian Prime Minister held a meeting with the new Iranian President, to discuss relations and global affairs.

This comes at the same time that India is supplying drones, weapons and explosives to Israel.

● Indian Prime Minister Modi also held a meeting with Russian President Putin.

In that meeting, he vowed to help Russia end their war with Ukraine.

●The entirety of BRICS collectively condemned Israel and called for a ceasefire.

●For the first time in 5 years, India and China held a bilateral meeting.

This came a day after a historic agreement was announced between the two countries, to end their disputed border crisis.

●The Saudi Crown Prince did not attend the BRICS summit, despite being invited.

Instead, he had a meeting with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.

●Putin announced Iran has "become a fully-fledged member of the BRICS."

●One of the most important points:

Putin was gifted a mock up of a "BRICS bill" at the summit.

●BRICS officially added 13 new nations to the alliance as partner countries (not full members):

Algeria

Belarus

Cuba

Indonesia

Malaysia

Nigeria

Turkey

Uganda

Uzbekistan.

●Russian President Putin proposes plan to create a BRICS-based grain exchange.

"A number of BRICS countries are among the world's largest producers of grain, vegetables, and oilseeds.

We propose opening a BRICS grain exchange.

This would facilitate predictable price indicators for products and raw materials, taking into account their special role in ensuring food security."

●Putin announced he is cancelling his trip to Brazil for the G20 summit, next month.

He denied that it wasn't out of fear of being arrested by the ICC as a warrant have been given for his arrest on reaching the summit, regardless, someone in Russia will be going for the summit.

●Nigeria who has officially joined the Brics has also unveiled the official name that was used in the BRICS currency which is in Hausa language 🤔
