JUST IN: FROM UOFA SUG TO ADAMAWA STATE GOVERNMENT,The Journey of Hon. Bisuwilai Abafras Yunana

Hon. Abafras' journey to becoming Special Assistant to the Governor of Adamawa State on community engagement was far from easy. Born in a humble family, Abafras grew up with a fierce determination to succeed.

As a student at the University of Abuja, Abafras was an active member of the Students Union Government (SUG). He served as a deputy clerk of the 8th Assembly Parliament of UofA, fighting tirelessly for students' rights. His passion and dedication quickly earned him recognition.

Abafras had served the apex body of Nigerian Association of Veterinary Medical students as the National Assistant Secretary General and was instrumental in the success of the ABUJA 2023 National Convention of all Veterinary schools In Nigeria.

He have been an active member of the National Union of Adamawa State students and have always played his part in the emergence of the leadership of the Association.

- He lost his first SUG in-house election, but didn't give up.

- He faced financial struggles, working multiple part-time jobs to support himself and his academics 

- He overcame self-doubt, surrounding himself with mentors and supportive friends.

Abafras' big break came when he was reelected as the 9th Assembly member representing the animal doctor’s (Vet. Medicine). He worked tirelessly, implementing innovative projects:

- Establishing a student entrepreneurship program

- Advocating for improved campus tree planting to end flooding 

- Creating a mentorship network for freshmen

Towards his last days in UofA as an undergraduate, Hon. Abafras' reputation as a dynamic leader spread. He was appointed as a Special Assistant for community engagement to the Governor of Adamawa State.

Years of hard work, networking, and strategic thinking culminated in his appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor.

In recognition of his doggedness and perseverance, the University of Abuja Veterinary Students will also be awarding him the political icon of the year 2024.
