Angry Graduate Kills 8 students,left 17 Others Injured, Due To Carry-over Results At Chinese College Campus

At least eight people have died, and 17 others were injured following a stabbing attack on Saturday evening at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing city, eastern China.

 

“Around 6:30pm on November 16, 2024, a stabbing incident that resulted in casualties occurred at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing city, causing 8 deaths and injuring another 17. 

 

"The suspect was apprehended on the scene,” according to a police statement, CNN reports.

Authorities stated that the suspect was a recent graduate who was motivated by “failing (an) exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship compensation.” 

 

The police confirmed that investigations into the incident were ongoing.

 

The attack followed a series of mass casualty incidents in China. 

 

Just last Monday, 35 people were killed, and over 40 injured when a car ploughed into pedestrians in Zhuhai.

 

In October, a stabbing near an elementary school in Beijing left five injured, including three children. 

 

In September, a knife attack in Shanghai killed three and injured 15, while a bus crash in Tai’an claimed 11 lives and left 13 others injured.
