Arsenal-linked attacker Viktor Gyokeres has finally responded to transfer rumours linking him with a swift exit from Portuguese champions Sporting CP.

The Sweden international's future has been under the spotlight - even more so now Ruben Amorim officially made the move to the Gunners' Premier League rivals Manchester United this week.

Just as his manager has taken the next step in his career, it has been suggested Gyokeres has an £83m release clause ready to activate and come next summer could even be available for even less, £50m-£58m, based upon a gentleman's agreement.

"It’s very sad that he’s leaving, but of course we understand his decision," the 26-year-old freshly told Fotbollskanalen of Amorim's departure. "He has of course meant a lot [to me] considering that he gave me that chance and that he made me develop so much."

Man United may throw a spanner in the works were the Gunners to go all-in for the attacker they have held interest in for a longer period of time, although two factors do fall in their favour. One is Amorim's own admission that he will not actively take players from his former club midway through the current season
