Folks, I've got some news that's music to my ears. The Nigerian Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has finally taken a bold step towards reforming the police force. He's ordered an immediate halt to unnecessary arrests and detention of youths across the country. And that's not all - he's also directed that all arbitrary collection and checking of phones be stopped immediately.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Sinach, this is all well and good, but what about accountability?" Well, let me tell you, the police authorities have made it clear that any police personnel caught indulging in these prohibited acts will be punished, including the Commissioner of Police of the command and their supervisors.
This is a welcome development, folks. It's a step in the right direction towards restoring trust between the police and the community. And I must say, it's about time.

Now, I want to take a moment to address the students out there. If you're experiencing harassment from the police, don't suffer in silence. Report it to your SUG Provost immediately. They're there to support you and ensure that your rights are protected.

Remember, folks, we all have a role to play in building a safer, more just society. Let's work together to make it happen.

And that's the way it is, folks.
