MAIDUGURI NEEDS ME: HOW I REACHED MY WORLD IN PRISON WITH RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

As I stepped through the prison gates, a mix of emotions swirled inside me. Apprehension, curiosity, and a hint of faith all battled for dominance. But nothing could have prepared me for the profound impact that this visit would have on my life.
The visit was an instruction from my life coach and mentor, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome (Dsc. Dsc. D.D), to take the divine presence of God to the world on December 2nd with the messenger angel; Rhapsody of Realities.
As I walked through the cellblocks, the sounds of clanging metal and muted conversations filled the air, punctuating the bleak atmosphere. The prison's imposing walls and razor wire fencing seemed to stretch on forever, a stark reminder of the freedom that lay just beyond the grasp of the inmates.
Despite the harsh surroundings, I was struck by the resilience and dignity of the inmates. Many had stories to share, stories of struggle, loss, and regret. Others remained silent, their eyes speaking volumes about the pain and hardship they had endured.
As I addressed the inmates, I reminded them that Jesus wants the best for them. I shared Psalm 139:16-17 NLT, which says, "You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!"
I took my new friends on a journey with my message of reconciliation, reminding them that they are forgiven and that Christ died for their sins. I distributed copies of the Rhapsody of Realities, encouraging them to read it daily.
This visit taught me valuable lessons about compassion, empathy, and the importance of second chances. It reminded me that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their past mistakes.
As I left the prison, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had merely scratched the surface of a much deeper issue. The memories of the inmates I met, their stories and struggles, lingered in my mind, fueling a newfound desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those often overlooked.
