We Were Used and Dumped: University of Abuja's Painful Experience With Comr. Asefon's Administration.

As I reflect on the recent events surrounding the distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to universities, I am filled with a sense of disappointment and frustration. Despite being located in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the University of Abuja was overlooked in the sharing formula of the 20 CNG buses allocated to students.

I recall how the government utilized our proximity to the administration for their own gain, only to abandon us when it came to the distribution of the CNG buses. It's a painful realization that we were used and dumped, our value only recognized when it served the government's interests. No wonder 🤔 a popular naija Proverbs says,"Today's newspaper na tomorrow's suya paper". The University of Abuja Students were only regarded as the best when the service of mobilization of students arise, after which we are dumbed like garbage, nevertheless, Toto water small, but é reach prick take baff.

Furthermore, I am appalled by the biased approach of the Special Adviser to the President on Student Affairs, Comr. Asefon, who allocated a CNG bus to his alma mater in Ekiti State. This decision reeks of favoritism, ignoring the fact that the University of Abuja faces higher living costs due to its location in Abuja. Nigeria though is wooven of many strands, still has her value system that should never be undermined especially in sharing formula except marginalisation creeps in.

How can 20 CNG buses be allocated to the students body in a six geopolitical zone setting and yet the center doesn't get any?

If 3 CNG buses are distributed to six institutions in the six geopolitical zones, wouldn't it be fair enough?🤔

What happened to the Federal character commission laws on sharing formula?

Does this CNG bus marginalisation answer to the rumoured underdevelopment of Northern Nigeria by this administration?

The University of Abuja remains the university of national unity and as such, tribal politics and ethnic underdevelopment shouldn't affect her.

As a student of this great institution, I demand that the government reconsider its decision and allocate a CNG bus to the University of Abuja. We deserve to be treated with the same respect and dignity as other top universities around the world, such as Oxford University in London.

The University of Abuja is not just any ordinary institution; it is a symbol of national pride and excellence. As such, it is imperative that the government recognizes its value and provides it with the necessary resources, including a CNG bus, to support our welfare and academic success.
