Distance Yourselves From Illegal Clubs Now: The Shadow of Unrighteousness in Our University

As a student whose heart was touched by the Almighty to discern truth from falsehood, do now speak. With the voice of a seasoned scribe, I address the creeping evil that has, for too long, gone unnoticed in the hallowed halls of our university. As the season of election draws near, a grave matter demands our attention, for the foundations of justice and order are under siege.

Hear now, O people of this institution, the transgression that has taken root. A faction of students, in defiance of the sacred covenant of governance, has unlawfully assembled. They have cloaked themselves in titles and portfolios, fashioning themselves as arbiters of the forthcoming election. Yet, they have spurned the ordinances of the university, as laid down in the Students’ Handbook, that revered scroll which guides the conduct of all.

These individuals have formed unconstitutional and illegal groups, operating in the shadows, beyond the reach of the law that binds us. Are they akin to secret societies, veiled in mystery, that they would shun the light of due process? Are they, perchance, akin to cultists, concealing their deeds from the watchful eyes of the Students’ Affairs Division and the Safety Unit?

The Students’ Handbook, Chapter 8, on Students’ Associations, Clubs, and Societies, is clear as the noonday sun. It declares, under Registration and Activities:

Any group of students wishing to start an association or club must apply to the Dean of Students’ Affairs first by obtaining the prescribed forms from the office.

The path is unambiguous: no group may rise without the sanction of the Dean, no society may flourish without the imprimatur of lawful registration. Yet these transgressors, in their audacity, have bypassed this sacred rite. They have conducted an election—an abomination—through the ephemeral medium of WhatsApp, a platform unfit for such solemn proceedings. This is no mere oversight; it is a deliberate affront to the rule of law, a mockery of the structures that uphold our institution.

Moreover, Chapter 93 of the Students’ Handbook sets forth the General Guidelines for all clubs and associations, proclaiming with authority:

General Guidelines: All clubs and associations must adhere to the principles of transparency, accountability, and compliance with university regulations.

No club/association that is not registered shall be allowed to operate within the University. Therefore, all clubs/associations must obtain registration before commencing their activities.

These words are not suggestions; they are the bedrock of order. Yet, this rogue assembly has trampled upon them, sowing discord and threatening the integrity of our electoral process.

I call now upon Dr. Noella Igwemmar, Deputy Dean of the School, entrusted with the oversight of clubs and associations, to arise with the zeal of righteousness. Let her swing into action with the swiftness of an eagle, investigating this breach and holding the guilty to account. The sanctity of our university demands no less.

To the students ensnared in this unlawful venture, especially those who harbor political ambitions, I offer counsel born of wisdom: distance yourselves from this group at once. Cease your participation until it is duly registered, lest you be entangled in the web of consequences that awaits. The path of honor lies in obedience to the law; the path of folly leads to ruin.

Let us restore the purity of our institution, that it may shine as a beacon of knowledge and justice. Let us walk in the light of truth, as befits a community bound by wisdom and righteousness.

So it is written, so let it be done.
