Certificates Delayed, Not Denied: A Call for Clarity at Yakubu Gowon University

As a compassionate advocate for the progress of Yakubu Gowon University, I feel compelled to address the thoughtful yet contentious response from FUAD regarding our news agency’s recent report on the CAC certificate delays. FUAD’s clarifications, while well-intentioned, deserve a closer look—not to stoke division, but to shine a light on the real struggles of students and the need for transparency, which has always been the heartbeat of our alma mater’s journey.

FUAD points to multiple calls for students to fill Google forms for CAC registration, citing specific dates—April 26, 2023, July 17, 2023, August 18, 2023, April 18, 2024, September 13, 2024, and twice in 2025—via the university Gmail platform as evidence of diligence. He argues that labeling our institution a scam is unfair—a direction the said article never went. Yet, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Many students, active on the CAC WhatsApp platforms, have been waiting since last year for new forms, while a significant number who completed submissions as far back as 2021 still clutch empty hands. Our report never branded Yakubu Gowon University a scam—let’s be clear on that. It questioned opaque processes and highlighted schemes that lack clarity, backed by evidence of delays that FUAD’s list of dates doesn’t erase. The call here is for accountability, not condemnation.

FUAD also notes messages from the center about incorrect uploads—September 3, 2024, and January 2, 2025—suggesting that student errors are to blame. But this sidesteps a deeper truth: a “healthy percent” of students who followed every step correctly still await their certificates. Why should their progress be stalled by the missteps of a few? Our article pointed to a consultant tasked with this process after the last release, not the university itself, urging those in charge to step forward and explain. The demand isn’t for debate—it’s for answers. If certificates are being released periodically, as FUAD claims, why do so many from the 2021 set still face an unjust wait? Yakubu Gowon University’s legacy deserves better than prolonged silence; it thrives on transparency and the success of every graduate, not just a fortunate few.
