NUC Accredits 13 Programmes, Grants Interim Status to Microbiology
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released the results of its October/November 2024 accreditation exercise, confirming the status of 14 academic programmes recently assessed.
According to the report, 13 programmes successfully secured full accreditation status, which is valid for the next five years, while only Microbiology received an interim accreditation, valid for two years.
The programmes that earned full accreditation include:
- MSc Business Administration
- MSc Public Administration
- Master of Public Administration
- Public Administration
- Architecture
- Education (Arabic)
- Education (Christian Religious Studies)
- Education (English)
- Education (Geography)
- Education (Islamic Religious Studies)
- Guidance and Counselling
- Law
- Chemistry
The interim accreditation for Microbiology implies that the programme will undergo another round of evaluation within two years to address identified areas of improvement.
The NUC’s accreditation process is a key quality assurance mechanism designed to ensure that universities meet the required academic standards in teaching, research, and infrastructure.
With the latest results, stakeholders have commended the institution for sustaining the high standards in most of its programmes, while also urging management to take necessary steps to secure full accreditation for Microbiology in the next review.
