17 phones,a laptop,a school bag and food missing as robbers raid the G. Abisogun Alo Hostel in mini Campus, the University of Abuja.
The Nuesapress gathered that the incident occurred at hostel unit 2,4,5,7 and 8 boarding house between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
It was also learnt that the hoodlums stole students’ valuables, including a lenovo laptop, phones which includes IPhone X,Samsung galaxy A22,Infinix Hot 10 etc and a school bag.
Meanwhile, the female SUG hostel representative, Hon. Hajirab (JoJo),a 300l student of economics, who was worried about recurring attacks on them, have staged a stop and search this morning which was unfruitful as the hoodlums already made a strong move to get the phone out of the hostel, she also decried the recurring situation in the hostel and also called on the authorities, and the SUG to rise to the occasion and beef up security in the hostel.
One of the victim,Odey Juliet, said: “It was late at night. The moment I raised my bed net to bring out my head, I just heard the shouting in the Hostel, and as I made my way out of the bed,I noticed my new phone wasn't there.
Another student said: “They removed my Atm card and my WAEC certificate at the back of my phone before moving, I woke up before the hoodlums were ableto move, and I clearly saw one wearingan Ash colour hijab. This is not the first time, second time, or even the third time, and the school is not doing anything about it. They made away with 24 phones the last time they invaded us.”
The students further accused the SUG of negligence as they cried out "We are not safe anymore, give us security, stop the IJMB students from staying in the hostel and also show the students who has no hostel allocation their way out of the hostel ,” the students lamented.
Meanwhile, the President of the Students Union Government, Represented by Hon. Muhammad Murheed who addressed the students, said the SUG and the school authorities have stepped in the case and the hoodlums will surely be put behind bars.
