Sen. Nkem Silas (Col. Ool.),the Student Union Government secretary, said the Union in collaboration with the school authorities will apprehend the culprits of G. Abisogun Alo Hostel robbery.
The robbers were said to have carted away mobile phones, laptops and food stuffs at the early hours of Sunday without any resistance. During the security surveillance of the SUG,led by the Secretary General of the Union, which lasted for about 7 hours, the Union leader assured the students of their security and urged them to go back to their studies and sleep with their two eyes opened while the security do their job.
The disgruntled student leader called on the varsity authorities to improve security on campus to forestall a recurrence of this spate of robbery attacks on campus.
Speaking to press during the visit at the hostel, the secretary condemned the robbery incident and said the culprits would be fished out.
“Honestly, I am really bittered that such a thing would be happening in this jet age. Somebody breaking into a female hostel to rob students of their belonging is abysmal and wouldn't be condoned by this administration" Sen. Nkem said.
The Union have decided we won’t just send our hostel representatives and the school security, that's why we've come to see things ourselves and assess the situation.
Consequently, the Assistant Chief security officer, Alhaji Idris, while briefing the SUG, assured the union of swift response as the case have been reported to the DSS and the GWAGWALADA Divisional Police headquarters. He promised to beef up the security architecture of the school while advising students to adhere to the new security protocols.
“Let me assure you that we must get the culprits, and students should also learn to call the security emergency numbers given to the hostel representative in case of emergency.
The SUG Secretary General, Sen. Nkem thanked the Hostel rep, Hon. Hajirab (JOJO) ,Hon. Muhammad Murheed and the Nuesa press for their swift response to the distress call of students and also assured students that the Union will soon start the SUG hostel security workshop which will be aimed at orienting the students on what to do when the need arise.
