NUESA DECIDE 2023: WE'RE 100% READY, SAID THE ELCOM CHAIRMAN

The Electoral Committee (ELCOM) and the SPEAKER of the house have pledged their commitment to ensure credible elections in the upcoming Nuesa elections.

This decision was reached during the press conference meeting of the Speaker of the Nuesa Parliament Rt. Hon Abdullahi Muhammad and the Electoral Committee Chairman, Comr. Jubril Shaibu,on Sunday the 26th November,2023 at the GST Directorate love Garden, mini Campus.

NUESA PRESS reports that the NUESA elections have been fixed to hold on Thursday, 30th of November, 2023.

Comr. Jubril, while addressing members of the press who were present at the meeting, presented the Committee's plans and preparations towards hitch-free, transparent and credible elections in Nuesa. 

He assured that the commission was ready to collaborate with the necessary authorities and relevant stakeholders toward ensuring improved electoral process in Nuesa.

    "We are 100% ready for the elections" he added.

The Elcom Chairman, who is a one-time Electoral Committee Chairman of FCT COE, a one-time Gwagwalada Area Council Presiding Officer and a one-time INEC Assistant presiding Officer restated the Committee's commitment towards conducting a free and fair elections with a few innovations to curb irregularities between aspirants, Electoral bodies, voters and ensure a transparent election.

"HOD'S and Departmental President's must attest to all candidates" he said.

"And all class governors must submit class list for accreditation of voters to avoid over voting"

Other innovations in this election, will be the use of codes on the ballot paper instead of the candidates name,this is because of the numerous case of tribal and religious tension rising from this names. 

"All screened candidates will be given a code which will represent their name on the ballot box,and most importantly, all aspirants must be a financial member of the organisation" he said.

The speaker, Rt Hon. Muhammad, in his remarks, charged Elcom to do all within its capabilities to ensure the elections in Nuesa is credible,while affirming to get all necessary logistics to make the elections a hitch free one.

The lawmaker maintained that the meeting was aimed at discussing important matters concerning ELCOM ’s activities and preparations for the forthcoming elections in Nuesa. 

He added that this Assembly set a high standard for the committee, especially with regards to the passage of the amended Nuesa constitution. 

This constitution which he stated will be available for purchase by any member of Nuesa as from 9:00am,27th of November,2023 at the Nuesa office at the price of #2000. He also encouraged all aspirants and members of Nuesa to do well to purchase it now as it holds the affairs of a new Nuesa.
