NUESA EXCLUSIVE: SUG REACT TO HOSTEL THEFT

The Students Union Government president, Hon. Edwina Okoro has reacted to the trending G. Abisogun Alo Hostel robbery earlier yesterday in the mini Campus of the University of Abuja.

Edwina who visited the scene of the robbery with some members of the SUG Cabinet in reaction to the development,commiserated with the victims.

I received the sad news of the robbery attack at this hostel in the early hours of yesterday, which resulted in the loss of propertiesand belongings of my fellow students, and it's disheartening.

The security agencies are investigating the incident and security will be beefed up all across the hostels.

We are grateful to those who called the SUG to report during the incident. We will continue to improve our response times using the apparatus available to us at the SUG level. We remain grateful to all security officers who continue to put their lives on the line for us.

The Hostel Representative, Hon. Hajara (JoJo) who could not fathom why someone would enter the hostel which is highly guided and steal without being intercepted said all the entrances to the school have security permanently stationed.

She asked the students union government (SUG) to as a matter of urgency mount pressure on the school authority to direct the maintenance unit to repair all security doors that are spoilt in the hostel, and also transfer all security officers who are found guilty of molestation of the girl child.

One of the security personnel of the school who spoke with our correspondent, said the leadership of the school security operatives, would leave no stone unturned in digging out the culprits.
