NUESA EXCLUSIVE: The 2023 Comrades Award winner emerges

On January 8th, 2023, Hon.  Muhammad Khalid (4* General), Vice president of the University of Abuja students union received the most prestigious Comrade of the year Award 2023 and the best General Course Rep. of the year award from the Nuesa Award Committee during the NUESA DINNER AND AWARD NIGHT 2023 Sessional Reception in Jesmine. 

This is a very popular Award among Student Leaders, and has been awarded to Hon. Muhammad Khalid after being nominated and receiving the most votes among other famous Nuesa students.

The intention of the Award of excellence is to promote not only a ‘Shared Vision’, a ‘Shared Mission’, and ‘Shared Corporate Values’ (The Nyman Success Triangle TM) but to also promote a teaching-learning environment where students voices are valued and use their passion as a performance amplifier.

The criterion for a nomination for this Leadership Excellence Award is not only leadership acumen, but he/she has to clearly demonstrate the following leadership traits:

Impeccable Character:

An exceptional leader has an exemplary character. It is of utmost importance that a leader is trustworthy to lead others. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their life with honestly and integrity. A good leader “walks the talk” and in doing so earns the right to have responsibility for others. True authority is born from respect for the good character and trustworthiness of the person who leads. 

Outstanding Communication:

Outstanding communication includes transparency, information sharing, great listening skills, letting other people share their ideas and concerns, regular feedback, being able to adapt their communication to every level, putting vision and strategies into context, so every associate understands it.

Relationships

Exceptional leaders know the importance of building and nurturing relationships. They are passionate about people, and they value their employees and inspire them to greatness. They are dedicated to serve others, make them feel important, and push them past their limits. Such a leader inspires confidence in others and draws out the trust and best efforts. A leader who conveys confidence towards the proposed objective inspires the best effort from team members.

Passion

Passion is the fuel for your burning desires. It is this quality that differentiates between the ordinary and the extraordinary. Passion is a performance amplifier. An exceptional leader is enthusiastic about their work or cause and also about their role as leader. People will respond more openly to a person of passion and dedication. Leaders need to be able to be a source of inspiration, and be a motivator towards the required action or cause. Although the responsibilities and roles of a leader may be different, the leader needs to be seen to be part of the team working towards the goal. This kind of leader will not be afraid to roll up their sleeves and “get dirty

All these qualities and more have been demonstrated by Hon. Muhammad Khalid all his Life's here in the University of Abuja where he did demonstrate it through his Impeccable and exceptional character as a general course rep. and also the voice of the student bagging himself one of the most prestigious award in the history of Nuesa, The Comrade of the year award.

This is for every education student that now has a chance to pass through the door because this door has been opened  by Hon. Muhammad Khalid,validating the saying that No matter where you're from, your dreams are valid like Hon. Khalid's.
