Why everyone wants to study law: A plethora of achievements of Kaffo Olaitan Emmanuel

The lizard that jumped from the high Iroko tree to the ground said he would praise himself if no one else did." We sometimes have to be our own cheerleaders. Celebrating ourself for our little accomplishments, for until the lion tells the story, the hunter remains the hero.

Over the years, many students and parents have always been craving to either get admission into faculty of law or have a Barrister as a child, leaving me with the thought  🤔 ,Why does everyone wants to study law.

A few days ago, I visited my brother and the UofA 9th Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Sen) Nkem Silas (OOL, COL) at his office in the faculty of Law, and I couldn't help it with the picture I saw,so I confessed to my
Speaker, "the faculty of law is truly blessed,no wonder the good hearts call her; The anointed one."

I know this my commendation will not go down well with the sorrowful and the envious in heart but I must say the truth, so, for the fact that you're not in the faculty of Law, should make you jealous.

You may seem to ask, jealous of what?

Yeah, jealous of good faculty governance, because the Igbo's will once say, "Na as hand keep Dei-Dei market, na him Dei-Dei market dey operate." It is through the tireless efforts, innovative vision, and dedication to excellence of Comr. Kaffo Olaitan Emmanuel's leadership that left an indelible mark on the faculty of Law, shaping the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff. Sincerely, it takes a leader that has the students welfare at heart to make the faculty of Law look this heavenly.

Oftentimes we get commendations we wonder if we deserve. This wondering will stem from a sincere soul-searching from a rational mind querying into the circumstances that led to the commendation. If Comr. Kaffo Olaitan Emmanuel, the erstwhile president of Lawsan Uniabuja chapter or anyone who knows him decides to engage in such a melancholic adventure, reasons would abound. Plenty, if not superfluous of reasons would stand up on his side. He more than deserves even a national honour, for making all men crave to be in faculty of Law with his diverse accomplished projects.

One of the climaxes of my experience as a student representing 93.3% of the entire UofA students voice was the meeting with Comr. Kaffo. In the history of UofA, Comr. Kaffo has booked a chapter for himself  because of his zeal towards the welfare of the students through infrastructural development and due to his tenacity in confronting institutional ill's. Some of the plethora of achievements of his administration in the welfare of the students will be, the building of the most aesthetic and enchanting conducive faculty relaxation centre in the entire UofA from the scratch. The now Kaffo Conference centre is second to none in structure and equipment. The project is a world standard in layout.

"Kaffo knows he would be graduating soon and wouldn't be here to enjoy the projects but he went ahead to do this just to make the present and the future UofA Lawsanites to enjoy their days here."

I couldn't help but ask myself a few questions while inspecting these world class project as I was filled with thoughts.

What must have motivated him to do this project, knowing fully well he'll be graduating soon?

He must be a true leader with the passion for the student's welfare.

Didn't other faculty President's with more number of students and more IGR see this coming?

What did other President's do with their own IGR?
The only answer to this is— Nemo dat quod non fucking habet.

Why does everyone wants to study law?

Yeah everyone wants to study law because great leaders like Kaffo have left footprint that will always make you feel at home when you get to the faculty of Law.

Kaffo must be the change Nigeria needs!

Kaffo’s administration had blazed the trail and took the lead in the students welfare. One will understand the need to treat the welfare estate of the realm as a business sector if democracy and good governance is to survive and have meaning to the ordinary student.

I call him a sagacious leader, and a chief vision officer not just for his faculty but as one whose vision can reshape Nigeria. How do I mean? In his achievements, Kaffo built a comfort zone for the entire UofA which is another conviviality of Nigerians from east, west, north, south, and anywhere. It is the university of national unity, so Kaffo built it for the whole of Nigeria. It is a clarion call that the Kaffo is interested in Nigeria to the extent that the true principles and values for building diversified countries are followed.

No doubt, Comr. Kaffo left UofA lawsan better than he met it. His legacy is beyond the infrastructural development in the faculty and in fair proportion to the various segments and stakeholders of the faculty. Legacy is not what is left for people but what is left in people. Not being the first lawsan president that left a project, Kaffo has started a cause that will outlive him. I wonder why no one has taken the lead to fight for UofA's collaboration with other schools in Nigeria and abroad, breaking the yokes of isolation which was to many, tagged—A glorified secondary school in isolation" until the president of collaboration started the revolution. Realizing the need to expand the frontiers of Lawsan, which he has built into the fastest growing faculty in the University with the collaboration with other Lawsans, including, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA),West African Law Students Association (WALSA),African Law Students Association (ALSA),Federation of African Law Students Association (FALAS),Intellectual Property Club (IPC) and many others. Those who want the digital UofA of our dream must be ready to practice collaboration to leave UofA for future generations. No faculty can survive in isolation.
Kaffolism is now rumoured to be a school of thought.

Kaffo came, saw, and conquered significantly in his primary constituency: Welfare, collaboration and leading by example especially in dressing nice always. The legacy of Comr. Kaffo is, therefore, beyond infrastructural development in faculty of Law. He had stirred something that is needed for building the foundation of a united country. He had set in motion a clarion call for faculty's to be productive and not receptive to labour and revenue generation. He had stirred the polity in favour of faculty capitalism and rewarded the goose that lays the golden eggs more than those that wait for the eggs to be distributed. I hope this will translate into a visible and enduring lesson for the present and future faculty presidents and departmental president in UofA.

For UofA to embrace her diversity, the rule of law must prevail, and apostles like Kaffo must be applauded and encouraged.
