THE UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA BY 2034.

It is said that only change is constant, and that's very true. while the future is uncertain, it's predictable.
you can tell what kind of change you should expect (positive or negative) based on your current actions.

Ten years from now, the UofA will be amongst the top best universities in the World. Currently it ranks 26th
in Nigeria and 4391st globally.(https://edurank.org).

Are you asking why? okay, it is not a prophecy by a prophet, but a prediction.
The management of the school is responsible for that change led by Prof. Abdulrasheed Na'allah fondly
called the "digital VC.

With what I have seen personally in my first year, I dare make the above prediction.
Prof. Abdulrasheed is the best thing that has happened to the UofA in recent times. He turned a once "glorified secondary school" into a standard university. Apart from the incessant increment of school charges, no student has any thing against the digital VC. About the increment of school charges, you can testify and justify it by the drastic infrastructural development of the school.
From my first visit, to becoming a student, construction work has never ceased. likewise my senior colleagues hold same testimony. Due to the minimal investment of the government in our public schools, it is not a bad idea that we build the school with our resources. I can assure you, you will be
proud tomorrow that you were a student during his time, even though for now it is not easy.

Change is painful, growth is more painful. Every student I have engaged about the VC has praised and commended his efforts but will usually end with " the only problem na that school fees wey him dy add, if not the man the work well well I no go lie."

During the VC's courtesy visit to the faculty of education on the 31st of October 2023 , His personal assistant had testified that during his 4years in school, he never had such opportunity to meet with his vice chancellor as such. But here we are, face-to-face, having a discussion with the VC on means and
ways we can move forward. On this same day, the VC also brought to our notice many other ongoing developments which can not be captured here completely.

Back to my prediction. The VC has boasted on one occasion that since the UofA is in the nation's capital, it is the number one in Nigeria by implication. This is not just mere pride, the VC is putting in action to ensure it also becomes a reality(on record). The basis for my prediction hinges on the numerous policies and programs which the VC has implemented and is still rolling out. Three (3) of this unique policies amongst others which are currently working

are:
1. Compulsory study of one foreign language : every student must study one foreign language to enable them compete in the labour market at a global level. The UofA is setting global standards.

2. Drug Test before admission and before graduation: this is in an attempt to drastically control the rate of drug abuse amongst Nigerian youths which has become a monster and at the same time a time bomb. No drug addict will graduate from the UofA without proper rehabilitation.

3. Student Mentoring And Employment Scheme: this is like the best policy for me. this scheme seeks to attach students to experienced personalities for mentorship and in turn, mentor other younger/new students. The other part which is employment is a scheme where student are employed by the school and being paid monthly salary while they study. As they gain experience in the world of work while learning/studying, their experiences from this scheme will be captured in their transcript. Every student will have at least, three years working experience before graduation.
should i add the zero tolerance for exam malpractice which is considered a cancer and a deadly disease? The penalty is expulsion from the school, no amount of pleading will save you. As an employer, will you reject a student with these exceptional qualifications over the one who has none?.

I won't end without giving you the condition to attain the aforementioned prediction. Since the tenure of the VC is time bound and is currently due, the only condition is replacing the current VC with another of his kind, one who will key into his vision for the school and strive to continue or do better than he met. A fellow who is selfless and passionate about nation building and development, a fellow who is not much more concerned about personal credit than success and achievement for all.
Give us another Na' Allah, he has set the standard, we don't want anyone less, it can only get better moving forward.
We wish Prof. Abdulrasheed Na' Allah farewell and success in his next phase of life pursuit.
" University of Abuja, the best university in Nigeria" is a status that is loading.....

We hope to recieve from our father(VC) a final gift that will be for the good of all students to add to the many legacies he is leaving.
God bless Prof. Abdulrasheed
God bless the UofA
God bless the university of national unity
God bless Nigeria!
