BREAKING: UniAbuja SUG Speaker decries Ebonyi State APC LGA Chairmanship Election Sale of Form, for Twenty Five Million Naira N25M.

Why APC zoning committee 25M odious nomination forms for LG Chairman form bazaar should be resisted.
For decades,this treacherous display that seemingly entrenches the discredited ancient past regime of money-bag politics and gerontocracy has gnawed at our democracy,until the signing of Not-Too-Young-To-Run bill into law,which the Ebonyi APC zoning committee for 2024 LGA elections have failed to adhere to.
This development has dampened the morale and erased the optimism that trailed the enactment of the NTYTR Act,it behoves APC to grant youths waiver to contest on the primaries since the administration championed the NTYTR Act.
Interestingly, the N25 million form currently on sale was obtained for N5 million in Katsina state on 1st of May to 4th of May 2024 for their APC Local Government chairmanship primaries,Ogun State for N200,000, Lagos State for N2m and and FCT N550,000. The geometric increase in the cost, from all indices available, cannot have been driven by anything other than an incrustation of corruption on our body polity by the APC zoning committee for 2024 LGA elections in Ebonyi state chaired by Sen. Obinna Ogba. Unfortunately, there is no other way of looking at it. Besides, the huge roadblock this action mounts in the path of youth participation in the electoral process should trigger alarm bells.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker of UofA 9th Assembly SUG on a press conference with the press,said,"This is basically a deliberate move to disenfranchise the majority of the interested candidates in favour of the incumbents and the ‘anointed’.”
“This move is clearly insensitive and definitely not in the interest of the ordinary Ebonyians with inalienable rights to seek and contest the elective positions,” he said.
APC form in the recently conducted Ekiti & Osun State Gubernatorial Election was N22.5m and Youths who are between ages 25 to 40 were granted 50 percent discount.
Why the outrageous hike for Local Government election in Ebonyi?
This will apparently cause more harm than good, by breeding more corruption that we are battling to eradicate from our society.
"I humbly urge the National Chairman of APC to intervene by calling on the APC chairman of the state, Chief. Stanley Okoro Emegha, to review the price of the forthcoming local government area election. The party should be for the have and have not; and not for the plutocrats alone. How do youths participate, when they can not purchase the form, due to the price hike". This move is clearly insensitive and definitely not in the interest of the ordinary Ebonyians with inalienable rights to seek and contest for the elective positions.
Finally, I also wish to call on our noble state Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, to look into it and do justice, for the interest of our teeming youths, as a man who has kept equity, justice and fairness as his watchwords"ended the speaker.
