The Edo State Budget Fiasco: A Slap in the Face for Nigeria

I am still trying to process the sheer incompetence that unfolded in the Edo State House of Assembly today. The new Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, presented the 2025 budget, and it was an unmitigated disaster.

This man, who is supposed to be leading the state, couldn't even pronounce the figures in the budget. He stuttered and stammered his way through the presentation, confessing that it was all "really confusing". Really confusing? This is a governor we're talking about, not some clueless bystander!

And let's not forget, this is the same man who was too shy to face the cameras during his campaign. He turned down a press conference invitation from Arise TV and instead had Sen. Adams Oshiomole act as his spokesperson. What kind of leader can't even address his own people?

It's clear that Okpebholo is not fit for office, and his appointment is nothing more than a ploy by the ruling APC to siphon the state's economy. The people of Edo state deserve better than this. They deserve a leader who's competent, confident, and capable of addressing their concerns. Anything less is unacceptable.

This is a slap in the face for Nigeria, and it's a stark reminder of the kind of incompetence that's rampant in our politics. We need leaders who can lead, not buffoons who can't even string a sentence together. It's time for Okpebholo to go, and for the people of Edo state to demand better."
