I just witnessed an incredible moment at the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) as 7,794 students were matriculated into various academic programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. The atmosphere was electric, with students, parents, and guardians all gathered to mark this significant milestone.

Vice Chancellor Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi congratulated the students on their admission, emphasizing the importance of hard work, discipline, and character in achieving academic success. She also commended the parents and guardians for their continued support and supervision, urging them to monitor their wards' academic progress and moral conduct.

What struck me most was the Vice Chancellor's strong warning against cultism, examination malpractice, and other forms of misconduct. She made it clear that the university has zero tolerance for such behaviors and that any breach of the matriculation oath would have severe consequences, including suspension or expulsion.

As a student myself, I found her words both inspiring and cautionary. It's clear that UniAbuja is committed to providing a conducive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, unity, and respect among students from diverse backgrounds.

The event was attended by principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and distinguished guests, and marked Professor Maikudi's first matriculation ceremony since her appointment as Vice Chancellor. The new students were administered the matriculation oath by the Acting Registrar, Islamiyat Abdul-Rahim.
