Urgent Public Demand Issued for Immediate Takedown of False TikTok Videos Targeting Cue and Play Spot
We write as concerned reputable company operating and guided by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and other extant defamation and tort laws.
It has come to public attention that certain video content circulated on TikTok and other digital platforms by users operating under the names @ethencoxytx and @flawless_jane contains false, misleading, and damaging allegations against a duly registered and reputable company known as Cue and Play Spot (RC: 8317154).
These publications are not only injurious to the corporate reputation and goodwill of Cue and Play Spot, but also constitute a violation of the company’s rights, including the right to fair business practice, protection from defamation, and freedom from malicious digital falsehood. The continued circulation of such content poses a clear risk of economic harm, loss of patronage, and public misrepresentation.
In line with Nigerian cybercrime and defamation laws, we hereby demand as a matter of urgent public importance that:
- The said TikTok users @ethencoxytx and @flawless_jane immediately take down and withdraw all false and damaging video content concerning Cue and Play Spot from TikTok and any other media platforms where such content has been shared.
- A clear and unambiguous public apology video be issued by both parties, correcting the false claims and acknowledging the harm caused.
- These actions must be completed within twenty-four (24) hours of this publication.
Failure to comply with this demand within the stipulated time frame will leave the affected company with no other option than to pursue appropriate legal remedies, including but not limited to civil action for defamation and injunctive relief, as well as petitions to relevant law enforcement and regulatory authorities under the Cybercrimes Act and related laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This notice is issued in the interest of justice, public accountability, and the protection of lawful businesses from reckless digital publications capable of causing irreparable harm.
Members of the public are advised to exercise caution in consuming and sharing unverified content, and to always seek clarification from credible sources before forming opinions that may unfairly damage reputations.
