NUESA EXCLUSIVE: LETTER TO NUESA PRESIDENT
Congratulations on your election as the new chief commander of over two thousand students. I pray your administration brings good tidings to this great association and its members in general. I understand that the road ahead may seem bumpy and blurry but I wouldn't want you to renege on your electoral promises that convinced the electorates to cast their votes for you. It is imperative to uphold the trust and belief the voters reposed in you. As you begin to sail the affairs of the union, here are a few words I will love you to hold dear. My faith in truth, my love for mankind, my insane loyalty to liberalism and democracy. I don't find a society built on privilege desirable. Under no circumstances will I be subdued by the desire to take for myself what does not belong to me, especially when it belongs to the sons and daughters of the toil. Such an act for me, should not be considered a virtue but a duty. I believe no one should be offered gratitude for being honest. At best they should be acknowledged for the sake of the young boys and girls who need a reference. Mr. President, you must have a personal conviction that guides you. That's one.
The second.
Mr. President, please pay attention to history because someday, your life will play out in history classes and only facts about your life will matter. Perhaps, you may enter the record of an outstanding president. Remember no student leader stays long enough beyond the continuum. Please, don't let the press go down the drain. The third
At a point in time, different counsel will flow in from people whose Cosmos covered an expanse as wide as the universe and those whose "cosmos"- for the want of an intended alternative occupy thin spaces naturally not larger than their ego could sprawl. In the end, you will be left with what you believe to be right, the dignity of the people you lead even when they're ungrateful for it. Nothing matters more.
The fourth
A student leader is a hard worker. You still have to read your book, after all the word student comes first in student leader. The NUESA office should be a place for long intense leadership retreats that must shape your life eternally. If you miss the process, you will have no such opportunity again.
The fifth
Power is not an end in itself, you are not meant to deploy all your power for personal ends. You need all the help you can get but not all your friends will support you. It is profitable to change your enemies to friends. Your success as a leader is not to shame your opposition but to treat them with tolerance.
The sixth
Mr President, no society has survived the contempt for truth. We have all had to lie at a point in our lives but pertinent to the need for a just society is unwavering belief in the truth. I caution you not to lie to your colleagues, I counsel you not to do things that require excuses or stories that touch later. As I conclude this letter, please be reminded that you have a place in the world. A student leader is not allowed to fail in his duties but you can make your mistakes. Leadership business is not a tea party, it is serious but flexible. Do not allow too much seriousness to get into your account. You're human, you're not a saint, therefore be human and learn through the process. Dear President, history has no conclusion. We struggled against colonialism but life is not working as we thought it would be. There are different tribes you have to keep united and interested in the working of the union. In solidarity,
D A M M Y™
