Our First 100 Days of UofA SUG Excellence
In the heart of Nigeria, within the walls of The University of Abuja – a citadel of national unity, a new era dawned 100 days ago. An era that was promised to be of “Collective Fairness”, and today, we stand as witnesses to the unfolding of that promise the Hon. Bashir cum Rt. Hon. Zainab led SUG, a vibrant body of young leaders, have taken the reins with a vigor that has not only inspired but also delivered tangible results.
We have today marked the significant milestone of our first 100 days in office and it is with profound gratitude and a sense of collective accomplishment that I extend my appreciation to each and every one of you from the workaholic cabinets, to all my distinguished principal officers and members of the the 9th Assembly, to my esteemed judges and our valued students who has made this journey a success.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all esteemed students of UofA for the unique honour bestowed upon us through our election. The confidence placed in our collective capabilities underscores the pivotal role our voice plays in the growth and development of our great university and we remain committed to ensuring that we not only live up to these expectations, but also exceed them in our pursuit of excellence.
Who would ever believe that the tiny ants could carry the big frog into her abode—only collaboration could make it possible, so I am truly grateful for the unwavering support and collaboration from all members of the cabinet and principal officers of the house and all members who have been instrumental in shaping our journey thus far. Your commitment, dedication and leadership have set the tone for a dynamic and cohesive team which has defined the start of our time in office as the UofA SUG.
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your valuable contributions over the last 100 days. The development of the Blueprint and the subsequent achievements so far, would not have been possible without the hard work and input from each member of the SUG, as well as the support and encouragement from our esteemed fellow students.
The mandate for our government is well-defined in our mantra: IT BEGINS WITH ME by enhancing productivity in all sectors through living and leading right thereby influencing our constituency with the change we require. We must therefore be united in understanding and appreciating the critical role we all have to play in dolivering on the President Bashir's Agenda, which is a clear call to build and inspire hope in UofA by being the change UofA requires.
Our journey so far has seen the development and enthusiastic support for our Strategic Blueprint, built around 3 pillars-Welfare before wishes, Students before politics, Empowerment before enrichment.
The welfare of the students is the foundation upon which our initiatives are structured and these was only achieved through our collective responsibilities and support.
In cur first 100 days, we have delivered a significant number of initiatives under our welfare pillar, which is an indication of the role it plays as the platform that drives other pillars.
— The swift ending of the 2weeks hostel brouhaha in just a few weeks in office
— The ending of the 88days strike
— The hosting of inter-faculty Freshers cup
— The collaboration with top Nigeria celebrities and tech companies, such as The real warri Pikin et Nasboi tour,Jersey Carnival etc
—The launch of the of UofA SUG magazines
— The launch of University of Abuja radio
— The launch of Tertiary institution social health insurance program

Our first 100 days have been busy and I fully expect the next 100 days to be just as exciting, especially as we build on what has been a strong start. This is just the beginning and I acknowledge that there is much more to be done and improved. While we continue to accelerate the work on knowledge, we will be shifting gears to prioritise more work on our students before politics. We will also be deepening and expanding support for empowerment to access local capital to facilitate growth of students local business and trade across borders.
As we recognise these achievements, I want to reiterate the importance of the continued support from each and every one of you. Our success in accomplishing our mandate and the plans outlined in our strategic blueprint relies on the collective efforts of the entire Students. Everyone has a role to play and l urge you all to remain steadfast and focused in your dedication to our shared vision to improve the quality of life for all students.
Finally, I want to thank all students again for your hard work, commitment and support. These 100 day achievements are as much yours as they are ours. They are a testament to our collective strength and determination which I have witnessed in so many ways.
